This is a presentation for NC State that I wrote and designed applying futures theory in Higher Education. Futures literacy is a cognitive and practical skillset that empowers individuals and groups to engage thoughtfully with the complexities of the future. It goes beyond traditional forecasting by emphasizing an understanding of the multiple possible futures that could emerge, rather than attempting to predict a single outcome. Futures literacy involves recognizing that the future is not predetermined but can be shaped by our actions and decisions today. By enhancing our ability to explore different scenarios, challenge assumptions, and consider the implications of our choices, futures literacy enables better-informed decision-making and the development of strategies that are adaptable and resilient in an ever-changing world.
